As a Clinical Researcher in the Antoniades group, Elsa’s main role is to run a study that aims to validate perivascular Fat Attenuation Index (FAI) in multiple computed tomography platforms. FAI is a new biomarker that detects vascular inflammation in the human coronary arteries using routine coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). In the CRISP-CT study, recently published in the Lancet, the group demonstrated that FAI predicts all-cause and cardiac mortality over and above clinical risk factors and the current state-of-the-art interpretation of CCTA.
Elsa completed her undergraduate pharmacist studies at the Miguel Hernandez University in Spain and obtained her MSc in Research on 2013. Elsa has a PhD in biomechanics from the University of Münster, Germany.
