As a Clinical Researcher in the Antoniades group, Elsa’s main role is to run a study that aims to validate perivascular Fat Attenuation Index (FAI) in multiple computed tomography platforms. FAI is a new biomarker that detects vascular inflammation in the human coronary arteries using routine coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). In the CRISP-CT study, recently published in the Lancet, the group demonstrated that FAI predicts all-cause and cardiac mortality over and above clinical risk factors and the current state-of-the-art interpretation of CCTA.
Elsa works as well on the AdipoRedOx study which focuses on looking at the interactions between adipose tissue, vascular wall and myocardium in human atherosclerosis.
Elsa completed her undergraduate pharmacist studies at the Miguel Hernandez University in Spain and obtained her MSc in Research on 2013. Elsa is currently finishing her PhD at the University of Münster, Germany.
