Dr Amy Chiu

Amy ChiuI completed my Ph.D. training studying diabetic cardiovascular complications, from the perspective of metabolism, in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada. My study focused on understanding the dialogue between endothelial cells and cardiomyocytes, which leads to a switch of metabolic substrates utilization following diabetes.

Starting in January 2018, I join the Novo Nordisk Fellowship Programme to continue pursuing my research interests in diabetic cardiovascular disease under the supervision of Professor Charalambos Antoniades, and Professor Keith M Channon. Recent publications have identified an adipose tissue-derived ligand that is involved in the vascular complications of obesity and diabetes. As such, my project aims to investigate the role of this ligand in the regulation of vascular redox state following diabetes.
